Principal Croston's Corner"Be the NEST: Defy the odds and be an outlier." I am a passionate proponent of student- centered learning rooted in the joy for learning and academic excellence. As a first generation college student with an Ivy League graduate education, I ground my leadership in three virtues: love, hope, and mission.
Love is not often used to describe a public institution; however, I believe love is the lifeblood of effective classrooms and schools. A group of disinterested people never made history, a difference, or a community. These achievements are the result of love. What I call love, others would consider passion. Expect to see from me a passion for learning, growing, and excelling. Our children’s future depends upon the hope we bring to our work. Mission is about leading and learning on purpose. How often do we read about accidental breakthroughs? Perhaps the achieved breakthrough was, in fact, an unintended consequence of a confluence of events. However, random disorder scarcely brings about monumental accomplishments. It takes pioneering agents to organize their time and practices with such intentionality that breakthroughs of some magnitude are bound to happen. I am the instructional leader to galvanize the spirit of the pioneer in all community members. We will persevere. We will not back down. We are the N.E.S.T. |
